Design agency jargon

Friday, September 23, 2008 – by Daniel Montano

If you visit design websites you will notice a pattern - most of them have forgotten who their clients are and this is obvious because of the language they use.

Terms like "information architecture", "folder structure", SEO, VDP, CMS, etc – are jargon in our field. In most cases these terms don't mean much to our clients.

The tools we use to communicate designs to our clients also don't mean much. For example a sitemap diagram or folder structure diagram may be fully clear to internal design professionals and their professional communities but we can't assume that our clients will also understand this.
